(KNSI) – The number of counties with the number of residents who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 is rapidly on the rise.
The Minnesota Department of Health’s latest numbers shows that as of Friday, the adult vaccination rate has reached at least 70% in Carver, Cook, Dakota, Hennepin, Olmsted, Ramsey, and Washington Counties. Carlton, Houston, and Scott Counties are inching closer to that mark.
For those over the age of 12, Benton County has a 36% vaccination rate; Morrison and Sherburne Counties each have 38% of residents over 12 with at least one dose of the vaccine. Stearns County has a 42% vaccination rate for those 12 and older. Wright County is leading the pack in the five county area with a 44% vaccination rate.
As of Friday, numbers show 54% of Minnesotans have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine.
The news comes as health officials and Governor Tim Walz aim to get 70% of adults vaccinated by July 1st.
