(KNSI) – Four people accused in the June 3rd shooting death of 25-year-old Keisa Marie Lange have now been charged.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the area of 40th Street South and Cooper Avenue South at 9:28 a.m. Police arrived to find Lange’s body. They say she was shot once in the back righthand side of her head. Five shell casings from a .9mm handgun were also allegedly found near her body.
Video from the area shows a white Ford Fusion driving into a parking lot on 5th Avenue South just before 7:00 the morning of the murder. A witness says they saw Lange leave the apartment around sunrise with two men and one woman.
Investigators say two people reported hearing gunshots between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m. that day. Witnesses also reported seeing a white sedan driving north in that area from a cul-de-sac by Interstate 94.
A witness allegedly identified 33-year-old Angela Renee Jones, 26-year-old Kenneth Carter, and 23-year-old Deantae Davis as the three people with Lange in the car.
The criminal complaint says that the Fusion was seen on surveillance video leaving the apartment parking lot at 8:25 a.m. and going to a gas station. Someone in a pickup truck pulled into the station, parked alongside the Fusion, and spoke with Jones, who was in the driver’s seat. That witness told police she saw four other people in the car and identified Carter, who was in the front passenger seat, Davis, who was in the righthand back seat, and another woman, 36-year-old Alicia Lewis sitting behind Jones. She noted Lange was sitting in the back middle seat. Investigators say from there; the Fusion was seen heading south on 9th Avenue about 15 minutes later.
The criminal complaint says someone called Jones from the Stearns County jail, and Jones allegedly told the caller one of the men “got the message,” but when pressed further about what that message was, Jones reportedly told the caller, “the one you gave me last week.” The criminal complaint says that Jones ordered the others in the Fusion to “get the (b****) out of the car” and referenced a home nearby. That home is just east of Cooper Avenue at the end of a long dirt road with two windows facing Cooper Avenue and the cul-de-sac.
Jones allegedly told police she was in the Fusion with Carter, Davis, Lange, and Lewis. The criminal complaint says Lewis told police Jones let her drive the Fusion and directed her where to go. The criminal complaint says when they got to the end of Cooper Avenue, Davis shot Lange, while Carter shot at Lange after she was out of the car. Lewis told police she drove the group to a property on Washington Memorial Drive, where they burned clothing, destroyed phones, and sanitized the car.
A search of the area, police say, turned up an empty bottle of bleach and a discarded spray bottle.
The car, police say, was found the afternoon of Friday, June 4th at Jones’s home. They say it had been wiped down, but investigators found blood evidence in the back seat. Investigators went through Jones’s garbage where they allegedly found a note referencing a woman “working for the feds.”
Carter was arrested in Apple Valley. Davis was taken into custody near Wisconsin Dells. Both were apprehended Thursday afternoon and are each charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder. Jones was already in jail for an unrelated child endangerment charge. She has also been charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting kidnapping.
Lewis, also from St. Cloud was arrested around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 10th.
