(KNSI) – Cybersecurity issues that have damaged some U.S. industries are likely to continue.
Hackers recently unleashed ransomware attacks on worldwide meat producer JBS Foods and oil pipeline company Colonial Pipeline. The companies combined allegedly paid over $15 million to resume control of their computer systems.
Uncommon Technology’s Nick Powers says it’s part of the cost of doing business now.
“Unfortunately, we’re probably going to see a lot more attacks in the next six to 12 months.”
Powers adds that cyberattacks like the recent ones on JBS and Colonial Pipeline have been happening on a smaller scale to small businesses. However, he says some businesses and the government are fighting back.
“The FBI actually coordinated a counter attack on Dark Side and actually stole back money that Colonial paid ransom.”
Cybersecurity experts Net V Pro tell KNSI to backup your systems, get strong anti-virus software on your machines, and if your system comes under a ransomware attack, do not pay up.
