(KNSI) – Sartell is hosting a new event in June to give families a chance to enjoy time outside together playing mini-golf.

Community Engagement Specialist for the City of Sartell Nikki Sweeter says they came up with the idea about four months ago before most COVID restrictions were dropped.

“Our very talented Public Works Department constructed the nine mini-golf holes. We didn’t know what was going to happen in the summer was COVID, and we thought mini golf is a good way to socially distance but still have fun.”

The nine-hole course is free and open from 5:30 to 8 on Tuesdays at the Sartell Community Center on Lake Francis.

Sweeter says there’s more than golf at Tuesday’s “Swing Into Summer” events.

“We’re gonna have some live music and we had a stage constructed about two years ago and we haven’t had a chance to use it yet. We’re going to have a food truck out in the parking lot, some picnic tables and then the golf holes that we’re really encouraging people to make tee times but they can also do walk up so this might have to wait a little bit.”

Tuesday night was the first “Swing Into Summer” event, but if you missed it, don’t worry, “Swing Into Summer” will be back next week on Tuesday, June 15th, and return on the 22 and 29.

People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
