(KNSI) – This weekend is Take a Kid Fishing Weekend in Minnesota, and the Department of Natural Resources is hosting an informational webinar this week to prep families for the weekend.
Children 15 and younger don’t need a license to fish in Minnesota, but from Friday to Sunday, adults without a license can fish as long as they take a child with them. The DNR says children and adults must abide by fishing seasons and other regulations.
“Time spent fishing with kids tends to be full of smiles, fun and connection,” said Benji Kohn, DNR volunteer mentor program coordinator. “Fishing can teach kids patience, build their confidence and turn into a great family bonding experience.”
The webinar on fishing tips and resources for families is scheduled for noon on Wednesday. The DNR also has a “Learn to fish” webpage.
