Crew Carwash Breaks Ground On St. Cloud Location, First in Minnesota

(KNSI) – A groundbreaking ceremony for the first Crew Carwash in Minnesota was held in St. Cloud on Friday.

The Indiana-based company is family-owned with 40-locations.

Third-generation owner and Crew Carwash Executive Vice President Sally Grant talked about why the company picked St. Cloud for its first location outside the Hoosier State.

“We love the salt you get here in the wintertime, and St. Cloud, you get those cars dirty, which we love dirty cars. And just the vibrancy. I mean, when you drive up and down the street, you see all these different businesses that are opening up, you see all the different residential neighborhoods, it’s just a perfect fit for us. And we are so excited to be here in St. Cloud.”

Since the company started, Grant says they’ve always felt it’s important to give back through its fundraising programs.

“We give back close to a million dollars annually in all the different communities that we serve through this fundraising program. Any nonprofit, school or youth group can sell our car washes, and they keep 50% of everything they sell. We’ll also partner with some special nonprofits to hold some events at our car washes, especially around our grand opening.”

She says they especially hope to partner with different community groups around their grand opening. The carwash is expected to be completed around Thanksgiving.

Grant talked about what separates Crew Carwash from others.

“As much as we do a great job, our quality is outstanding, we deliver a clean, dry, shiny car known for our people, we are known for our customer service. We have very high standards in the associates and the managers that we hire because we know it’s all about the customer and giving them that great service.”

The company is looking to hire around 25 people for the carwash.

She says Crew Carwash cleans the car’s exterior in about five minutes with automated soft cloth scrubbers and hot air dryers.

The company was started by Sally’s grandfather Joe Dahm in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1948. Joe is still alive at 94, and his son Bill Dahm is the company’s, Chief Executive Officer.

The first Crew Carwash in Minnesota is at 4118 West Division Street in St. Cloud.
