(KNSI) – More details have been released after a car crashed into a house in St. Cloud on Wednesday afternoon.
The St. Cloud Police Department says around 1:15 p.m., the car struck the house in the 300-block of 22nd Avenue North.
Officers say the vehicle drove through the home’s exterior wall, causing significant damage to the car and the house.
Investigators say a Toyota Camry driven by 33-year-old Amal Muhyadin Mohamed of St. Cloud was going eastbound on 3rd Street North in the 2200 Block.
According to a press release, Mohamed swerved to avoid a vehicle that had legally entered the intersection at 22nd Avenue. At that time, she drove over the curb, through the yard, and into the house located on the intersection’s northeast corner.
Police say speed was a contributing factor in the accident.
The portion of the house that was struck was not occupied at the time of the collision. At the time of the crash, Mohamed’s vehicle was also occupied by her 3-year-old child.
Mohamed and her child had what appeared to be minor injuries, and both were transported by Mayo ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital to be further assessed. No other persons were injured during the incident.
Based on the investigation, Mohamed was cited for not having a valid driver’s license and careless driving.
