(KNSI) – Hundreds of students were celebrated in a pair of vehicle parades for the class of 2021.
St. Cloud Tech High School held its event on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday evening, it was Apollo’s turn.
St. Cloud Area School District Superintendent Willie Jett was there to cheer on the kids.
“It’s just a wonderful moment. I’m excited for the students, excited for their families. The things that they’ve had to overcome in the last year and a half are truly amazing. They deserve this moment. They deserve to be celebrated. The kids, families, the entire community.”
He says the bravery shown by the class of 2021 in the face of adversity over the last year makes him believe the future is in good hands.
“They’re resilient; they’re thoughtful; they’ve had to endure different things. They’ve had to be creative. They’ve had to do some things that none of us have ever, ever, ever imagined. And so I’m just thrilled that that’s who’s going to be leading the future.”
Both Tech and Apollo will hold their graduation ceremonies on Friday night at the River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud.
Tech’s students will graduate at 5 p.m., and Apollo’s will be at 8:30 p.m.
Around 700 students are graduating between the two schools.
School Board Chair Vice-Chair Al Dahlgren said the parade was such a success last year for students they decided to bring it back again this year and could make it permanent.
