(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Rotary Club has joined with St. Cloud Area School District 742 and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota to get more access to early childhood education

‘Preschool 4 Success’ will offer preschool to 60 four-year-old children starting in September.

An estimated 150-200 three-and four-year-olds are on a waiting list for the District’s preschool classes.

District 742 will provide teachers and paraprofessional staff at the Southside and Roosevelt Boys & Girls Club sites for the preschool classes with financial support from the Rotary club.

Preschool 4 Success will focus on four-year-olds, serving 15 students in the morning and 15 in the afternoon at the Southside and Roosevelt Boys & Girls Clubs.

The program’s cost will be shared by the District 742 general fund, the St. Cloud Rotary Foundation, scholarship donations by Rotarians, local businesses, and the in-kind donation of space from the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Preschool 4 Success will reach out to prospective students living in the areas around the two sites and may be able to use existing bus routes.

If existing routes are not an option, an additional $60,000 per site is needed for the program. Grants and in-kind services may fund transportation.
