(KNSI) – A 39-year-old Richfield man is in the Stearns County jail, accused of raping a teenager earlier this year.
In February, an investigation was opened by the Central Minnesota Human Trafficking Task Force after learning from a social worker that a teen, who had recently run away from home, was talking with a grown man through social media in January.
With the numerous photos and videos sent to the 14-year-old, police were able to identify the man as then 38-year-old Devon Griffin Seivers by comparing his driver’s license photo to those he allegedly sent. The child denied any sexual relations with Seivers but did admit to investigators the two had been in contact.
Investigators say a search of both the child and Seivers’ social media accounts showed concerning conversations of a sexual nature. Those conversations allegedly included evidence Seivers planned to pick up the child they were speaking to, and another 14-year-old, also from St. Cloud, and take them to a hotel.
A warrant was issued for Seivers on May 21st. He was arrested on May 24th. Bail was set at $100,000. His next court appearance is set for June 9th.
