(KNSI) – A handful of Minnesota National Guard members are heading to Eastern Europe from Camp Ripley this week to provide maintenance support to U.S. service members and allied forces operating in the U.S. European Command area of operations.
The guard says fewer than ten soldiers from the Minnesota-based detachment of the 107th Maintenance Company will be shipping out Thursday and honored with a deployment ceremony Thursday morning from Camp Ripley. The ceremony will be streamed starting at 10:00 a.m. by clicking here.
According to a press release from the guard, the Minnesota detachment is part of the Sparta, Wisconsin, based 107th Maintenance Company and will join approximately 150 Wisconsin Army National Guard soldiers on the deployment. The unit, comprised of mechanics, production controllers, signal support specialists, supply specialists, vehicle recovery experts, armament specialists, and a field feeding section, will provide maintenance support to U.S. service members and allied forces operating in the theater.
The Minnesota National Guard has more than 13,000 Soldiers and Airmen who serve in 58 communities across the state.
