(KNSI) – Multiple people were hurt after an ATV carrying five people rolled in rural Stearns County.

First responders were called around 6 p.m. on Tuesday to the intersection of County Road 168 and Thunder Road in Melrose Township for an accident with an off-road vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they found a 2020 Polaris Ranger side-by-side near the intersection.

The sheriff’s office says 34-year-old Roxane Johnson of Melrose was driving the ATV.

Johnson said they were traveling eastbound on County Road 168 when she began negotiating a left turn near Thunder Road and the ATV started leaning to the right.

The ATV then tipped onto its right side. All five people on board were wearing their seatbelts.

Deputies say 50-year-old Trina Hinnenkamp of Melrose suffered road rash to her right arm and right knee.

A juvenile passenger suffered an injury when the ATV tipped and landed on the child’s ankle.

Investigators say a person passing by was able to lift the ATV off the juvenile’s ankle.

Deputies say The crash is believed to be speed-related.
