(KNSI) – A St. Cloud man has been charged after allegedly body-slamming a woman and putting her in a chokehold.

David Demetrius Tazewell is charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation and interfering with an emergency call.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called around 5:45 a.m. on Monday by a woman who stated Tazewell attacked her.

Investigators say the woman wanted to leave home, and the 42-year-old began wrestling her for the keys.

The victim says Tazewell picked her up in the bathroom, “body slammed” her, and choked her.

The woman says he put his hands on her throat and put her in a chokehold.

She stated she couldn’t breathe, and this lasted for about thirty seconds to one minute.

According to police, when the woman tried to call for help, Tazewell snatched the phone away.

She used his phone to call 911.

A man living in the home told police he saw Tazewell holding the woman in a headlock and pulled him off her.
