(KNSI) – Minnesotans can walk into the state’s community vaccination sites — including at the River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud — to get a COVID-19 vaccination without an appointment starting Friday.

“To end this pandemic, we need as many Minnesotans vaccinated as possible, as quickly as possible,” Gov. Tim Walz said in a news release. “Walk-in vaccinations help us do just that by reducing barriers to make it even easier for folks to get their shot. The sooner we get shots in arms, the sooner we can get back to the things we love and the people we miss. We want Minnesotans to pile in the car, walk in to a state site and get the whole family vaccinated.”

According to the COVID-19 Community Vaccination Program website, the St. Cloud site is open on Wednesdays from noon to 8 p.m. Because the site offers the Moderna COVID vaccine, patients must be 18 or older.

The only community vaccination site in Minnesota not accepting walk-ins is the Minnesota State Fairgrounds site. Walz’s office says that location is currently administering second doses.

Minnesotans can still make appointments for vaccinations at the community sites.
