(KNSI) – After a year without the Great Minnesota Get-Together due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minnesota State Fair is hosting a sneak peek of the festivities coming later this summer.
“Kickoff to Summer at the Fair” will happen May 27th through the 31st at the Minnesota State fairgrounds. The event will feature food, live music, beer, shopping and other activities.
“Last year’s Food Parades were a big hit, but they were also very limited,” said state fair general manager Jerry Hammer. “This year, we’re very happy to bring people back in a walk-around environment to enjoy a slice of the fair.”
Tickets for each day of the event will be sold via a lottery, which is open for registration through the end of the day Thursday. The $12.50 tickets will be sold for certain timeslots during each day to cap overall attendance to 10,000 people at a time at the fairgrounds. Face masks are required at the event.
The Minnesota State Fair proper is set for August, and while more details about the event will be announced as the event draws nearer, Gov. Tim Walz projected that it will look “pretty close to normal.”
