(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Fireworks Committee announced Tuesday plans for the 2021 July 4th Fireworks.

Fireworks Commissioner Tom Richardson explains that this year there will be a ground launch from Wilson Park because “the committee wants to be able to pivot to whatever we find happening on July 4th.” Richardson explains that “it takes a lot of work and a lot of people to make this happen safe for everybody in a normal year. We want to be extra cautious and safe this year.”

The fireworks will be launched from Wilson Park beginning at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, July 4th, and visible from and around Wilson and Hester Parks, along 5th Avenue North from 4th Avenue to the Water Treatment Facility, downtown locations, and other areas surrounding the Mississippi River and Wilson Park areas.

This is the 75th consecutive year of the ever-popular fireworks display. 2020 was an abbreviated show with no public celebration due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Richardson says the committee will keep a close eye on safety requirements and health requirements and says, “we hope everyone understands that we need their help to make sure we can all celebrate this year to safe and responsible manner.”
