(KNSI) – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is asking for the public’s help to find a missing toddler after a possible familial abduction.

The BCA says two-year-old Nasteha Yusuf Mohamed and 26-year-old Amina Yusuf Mohamed were last seen just before 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 3rd at their home in northeast Minneapolis and haven’t been seen since.

Nasteha was last seen wearing brown pants, a brown shirt and a brown sweater. Amina was last seen wearing a brown skirt, black sweater with a grey scarf. Amina is described as five feet-eight inches tall and weighing 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Minneapolis police say they believe Natesha was abducted by her older sister, Amina, who authorities say has suffered from bouts of paranoia and mental instability. Police believe Amina may be taking Natesha out of state. Right now, Minneapolis Police Spokesman John Elder says this does not rise to the level of an Amber Alert. An Amber Alert is issued when police believe an abduction has occurred and that the child is in immediate danger of serious injury or death.

They may be in a 2013 gold Chevrolet Equinox SUV with the Minnesota license plate ECG 917.

Police are asking people to call 911 if they see the siblings or the vehicle.
