(KNSI) – Minnesota sees 998 new COVID-19 cases reported on Tuesday, the first time the state has reported fewer than 1,000 new cases since March 23rd.
New cases in the five-county St. Cloud area total 86: 13 in Benton County, five in Morrison County, 19 in Sherburne County, 23 in Stearns County and 26 in Wright County.
The Minnesota Department of Health also confirmed 11 new deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday.
The statewide COVID test volume took a dip with the state processing almost 13,840 tests on Monday for a one-day test positivity rate of 7.2 percent. 575 people are currently hospitalized in the state for COVID-19 complications.
As case rates continue to decline after the state saw a springtime peak, more Minnesotans are getting vaccinated. Nearly 2,590,000 people have gotten at least their first dose of the vaccine. This includes 51 percent of Stearns County residents who are 16 and older.
