(KNSI) – The Crow Wing County Sheriff is praising the work of alert bystanders who helped rescue a stranded boater Thursday afternoon.
It all happened just before 1:00. The man was on Clearwater Lake and had been yelling for help. A group nearby launched a jet ski to go out and get the man from his boat. He said he was operating an eight-foot watercraft with a trolling motor but became stranded due to windy conditions.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Deerwood Lake Fire Department and Crosby Ambulance responded to the scene. The man was not hurt.
Sheriff Scott Goddard expressed his appreciation for those who pitched in to make the outcome a happy and safe one and said it is a “great example of neighbors looking out for neighbors.” He took the opportunity to ask boaters to brush up on boating safety and be sure they have the necessary, proper equipment as we head into the upcoming busy boating season.
