(KNSI) – A police department in Central Minnesota received some goodies from a local family.
The Big Lake Police Department got a special gift of donuts, coffee, and homemade chocolate chip cookies on Tuesday from Brianna Lund and her family.
Acting Police Chief Matt Hayen says gifts like this are uplifting to the department.
“It’s a sense of being needed in the community and showing the appreciation from the community itself towards the police department. It reassures the officers that there are people out there that support law enforcement.”
He says the department loved the ice cream bucket of cookies.
Hayen says one gift Stood out amongst all the treats.
“They also had a little book made with notes in it from their neighbors. So, they went around to their neighbors and asked if they wanted to contribute and just say something towards the police officers of Big Lake.”
Brianna Lund talked with KNSI News about why she decided to give the department a gift.
“I wanted to show them our appreciation. I know, with everything going on in the world right now, they’ve been getting a lot of flak. So, I want them to know that us and our neighbors are there to support them.”
The mother of three says her neighbors gave some money to help buy the gifts.
Brianna and her kids Travis, age 6, Ella, age 4, and Hailey, age 2, randomly stop by with gifts and treats for the department.
