(KNSI) – St. Cloud State Univesity has launched its first comprehensive public fundraising campaign in nearly 20 years.
Unleash The Future: The Campaign For St. Cloud State has a goal of raising $32 million to help lead the University into the future.
SCSU President Robbyn Wacker says this is their vision of dealing with the challenges facing higher education head-on.
“What worked before for St. Cloud state and many universities around the nation simply isn’t working now, and definitely won’t work in the future. We aren’t afraid to rip up the playbook and build something new for our students, the community, the state of Minnesota and beyond.”
The funds will keep scholarships for students going in the long term and build new facilities when needed.
Wacker says the fundraising campaign will help distinguish SCSU from other schools.
“We will be the only university in Minnesota where our faculty are truly teacher scholars who are actively engaged in research, scholarship and creative work in their field, solving real world problems.”
The campaign’s priorities include academic distinction, University of Teacher-Scholars, student success, annual support, and school/college priorities.
Funding from the campaign will also be used for new LED boards and an updated sound system at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
Create a new Distinguished Speaker series and create a strategic endowment for the research and scholarship happening at the College of Science and Engineering.
SCSU will also be able to fund the 500 scholarships further.
The campaign has raised $28 million and has 20 months to raise the rest.
