(KNSI) — A 32-year-old Sartell man is in the Stearns County jail, facing felony criminal sexual conduct charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child.

According to a criminal complaint, a girl was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center back in January, explaining how her mother’s ex-boyfriend, Paul Bradley Lanphear, had sexually assaulted her.

She explained that he would undress her and touch her, perform sex acts on her, and make her touch him. She said Lanphear would scratch and slap her if she refused. She said he told her she could tell on him, but there would be consequences. The child stated that the assaults happened “almost daily for a few years,” and the last time he assaulted her, she was eight. She said it stopped after Lanphear moved out.

The girl’s mother confirmed to the police that Lanphear lived with her and her family from April of 2016 to August of 2018.

Police had been looking for Lanphear since October of 2019 after he allegedly assaulted the child’s mother. A warrant was issued for Lanphear’s arrest in February. He made his first court appearance Friday morning.

A search of court records shows Lanphear has been previously charged with stalking in 2018 and drug possession in 2018 and 2019.
