MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Hundreds gathered to remember Daunte Wright Thursday, 11 days after the young Black man was shot by police during a traffic stop and two days after Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder in George Floyd’s death.

Hundreds of mourners filled Shiloh Temple International Ministries for the funeral of Wright, who died April 11 after a white Brooklyn Center police officer shot the 20-year-old.

Her chief said it appeared the officer mistakenly used her gun instead of her Taser.

Wright’s killing came amid increasing tension during the weekslong trial of Derek Chauvin, the white former police officer who killed Floyd.
