(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health reports 1,611 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday along with 13 deaths. The death count includes one Wright County resident who was in their 90s.

The five-county St. Cloud area adds 161 new cases of COVID-19: Benton County 15, Morrison County seven, Sherburne County 35, Stearns County 51 and Wright County 53.

Out of the 24,501 tests processed statewide yesterday, 6.6 percent came back positive.

Meanwhile, MDH says nearly 53 percent of Minnesotans age 16 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine. 85.5 percent of Minnesotans age 65 and older have received that vaccine, as have 57 percent of people between the ages of 50 and 64.

During the month of April, almost one million vaccine doses have been doled out in Minnesota.
