(KNSI) – A 26-year-old Princeton man is jailed after allegedly running from the police with a gun and suspected methamphetamine.

According to a press release from the Waite Park Police Department, about 1:20 Saturday morning, an officer found a vehicle that had allegedly been involved in a chase with St. Cloud officers on April 15th. Police watched the car when they said a man walked up and pulled a backpack out of the vehicle. Police tried to make contact with the suspect, who they say fled on foot.

Police were able to get him into custody. While searching the suspect, police allegedly found a handgun and a “white crystal like substance which appeared to be methamphetamine.”

During the pursuit, the suspect also allegedly dropped the backpack and multiple cell phones.

He was booked into the Stearns County jail awaiting charges for drugs, fleeing, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police say he was also wanted on multiple warrants.
