(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health reports 1,715 new COVID-19 cases and 16 deaths across the state Wednesday. The death count includes a Stearns County resident in their 90s, Benton County resident in their 80s and a Sherburne County resident in their 60s.

The five-county St. Cloud area reports 178 new cases: 13 in Benton County, 14 in Morrison County, 47 in Sherburne County, 51 in Stearns County and 53 in Wright County.

Out of 24,033 COVID tests processed on Tuesday, 7.1 percent came back positive.

This comes as more than 2.1 million Minnesotans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. They make up 38.3 percent of the state’s total population.

Correction: A previous version of this story and headline identified only two deaths in the five-county area for Wednesday. There are three deaths in the area as reported by the Minnesota Department of Health on Wednesday.
