(KNSI) — The Big Lake man accused of murdering his mother last summer has been found incompetent to stand trial, but that doesn’t mean he won’t get his day in court.

20-year-old Eric Jordahl was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder in Sherburne County district court for the gristly death of 62-year-old Rose Johnson.

According to the criminal complaint, Jordahl allegedly stabbed, bit, and punched Johnson after entering her bedroom on July 27th, and she told him to go back to sleep. He is accused of stabbing her repeatedly in an attack so violent; dental records were needed to identify her.

Jordahl was ordered to undergo a mental competency exam under what is called Rule 20. He was found mentally incompetent to stand trial. A statement from Sherburne County says prosecutors filed a notice of intent to prosecute when Jordahl regains competency.
