(KNSI) – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for parts of western and central Minnesota Monday.
The warning, which begins at noon Monday, covers several counties, including Stearns, Morrison, Kandiyohi and Meeker. The NWS describes the affected area as west of a line from Little Falls to Litchfield and Redwood Falls.
Humidity is expected to drop as low as 17 to 25 percent, and the area is expected to see 20 to 30 mph winds from the South with gusts up to 50 mph during the afternoon.
The NWS says critical fire conditions are expected in areas of western and central Minnesota. Other areas of the state could see elevated fire concerns.
The Red Flag Warning is set to expire at 1 a.m. Tuesday. It coincides with a wind advisory in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Monday across much of the state.
