(KNSI) – An Indiana-based car wash company is coming to Minnesota and opening its first location in the St. Cloud area.
Crew Car Wash Executive Vice President Sally Grant explains why central Minnesota was so attractive.
“We visited the Twin Cities that their surrounding areas and really liked what we saw. It’s obviously different than Indianapolis, but there were a lot of similarities, too, as far as how vibrant the surrounding communities were, the suburbs were, we just really liked the feel.”
Also, Grant says, salt is their bread and butter.
“I will say, too, in our business, we love salt, because salt gets cars dirty, and in your area, there is a lot of salt on the ground a lot of winter weather. That’s primetime for our car business.”
Grant says when Crew Car Wash comes to an area, they enjoy immersing themselves in the community.
“We like anything that really helps children, giving back, helping them, mentoring them. That’s something that we really focus on. But we always like to try to find a nonprofit and something that’s really important to the communities that we go into, and we usually have fundraising events. So when we first open up, we’ll give away our services, our best wash completely for free for three to four days. And just if customers wish to make a donation to that organization, they can and we’ve been as successful as to be able to raise about $14,000 $15,000 in just one weekend that we’re able to give back to that community to give back to that organization that we decide to partner with.”
Crew Car Wash was started in Indiana over 70 years ago by Grant’s grandfather and was just the 18th car wash in the entire country at that time. Since then, they have expanded to 37 locations and are still a family-run, family-oriented business.
“We use the latest and greatest technology to ensure that your car is going to be the cleanest that it can be. We’re known for our really friendly people. So our kids love coming to crew because we have, you know, stuffed animals throughout the process. We give out stickers. It’s just a very, very family-oriented business. And we like it that way. And we just can’t wait to get to St. Cloud to be able to get off to a great start.”
The new Crew Car Wash location will break ground next month in the old Pearle Vision location at 41st and Division. They expect to be open by Thanksgiving. They’re currently hiring for management positions.
