(KNSI) – Anyone looking to feed a craving for their fair food favorites can swing through Coborn’s Marketplace in Sauk Rapids.
Miller Concessions opened their first food stands of the season at the grocery store on Thursday.
Owner Rob Miller says the change in season allowed him to open early.
“A good month and a half earlier, you know, springs coming early, so we thought we’d get out and enjoy the weather. Keep the community happy. Get some good spirits going.”
Last year, Miller’s concessions were set up for several weeks at Crossroads Center after many fairs and festivals were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Miller says setting up in places like the mall and Coborn’s in 2020 was a lifeline.
“It saved our season. We do 70 events, and 68 of the 70 were totally canceled. So these malls or grocers, like Coborn’s, really saved our season, or else. We’d have been in a lot of hurt right now.”
Miller says he’s looking forward to a busy summer.
“The fairs and festivals, in general, are going to go. There might be some little restrictions as far as attendance or mask worrying or whatever they come up with. But it will be a little hybrid of both. We’ll be doing some grocery parking lots like this and our normal events. So it’ll be a little of everything. Probably be busier than ever trying to do it all.”
People can pick fair food classics like hand-dipped corn dogs, fresh cheese curds, mini-donuts, funnel cakes, and even a fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Miller Concseeions is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday in the Coborn’s parking lot, 110 1St Street South in Sauk Rapids.
The concession stands will be setting up all around the St. Cloud area.
