Wright County Releases Names of Murder Suicide Victims

(KNSI) — The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the names of two people who were found shot to death Friday night in Rockford.

Police were called to the home at about 8:25 by a neighbor concerned about a car that had been running in the driveway unattended for about an hour. Officers went to check on the homeowners and found a man and woman inside who had both been shot.

Investigators believe 47-year-old Christopher Michael Powers shot his girlfriend, 46-year-old Regina Theresa Hughes, in the head before turning the gun on himself.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.
