(KNSI) – Minnesota confirms 870 new COVID-19 cases and seven deaths across the state Tuesday. This comes one day after the state saw its first day with no new COVID-19 deaths in nearly a year.

None of Tuesday’s deaths were recorded in the five-county St. Cloud area, but there are 134 newly confirmed cases: 16 in Benton County, 18 in Morrison County, 24 in Sherburne County, 47 in Stearns County and 29 in Wright County.

The state processed just more than 13,000 COVID-19 tests on Monday, and 6.5 percent returned positive results. That’s one of the highest one-day test positivity rates seen in several weeks.

As for vaccinations, more than 1.4 million Minnesotans have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose. The state estimates that 79 percent of its senior population is now vaccinated. Around St. Cloud, 93,801 people have been partially or fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
