(KNSI) – A 33-year-old Forest Lake man is in the Sherburne County jail after a large amount of drugs and a gun were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to a press release from the Becker Police Department, officers pulled a car over just after midnight Tuesday morning on Highway 10 for an equipment violation. They say the driver had a suspended license and a warrant out for his arrest from Hennepin County. The officer says the driver also appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, and a gun was in plain sight near the driver. After further checking, the driver was not legally allowed to have a gun.

Police searched the vehicle, which they say turned up 4.5 grams of methamphetamine, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, and just over 40 grams of marijuana.

The driver was arrested and was taken to the Sherburne County jail, where he is awaiting formal charges.

KNSI does not typically name suspects until they’ve been formally charged.
