City of St. Cloud
(KNSI) – St. Cloud officials are asking residents to help keep the city’s storm drains clear to prevent flooding as the snow melts.
Mayor Dave Kleis talked about the issue during his weekly address.
“Neighbors helping out the city will really help our public works department, because as it freezes, you get a lot of flooding. Removing the ice and snow around the catch basins will certainly help us all out.”
Snowmelt during the day and refreezing at night cause the drains to back up and can lead to street flooding and more.
Mayor Kleis says it’s easy to help, and all you need is a shovel.
“shovel around the basin and clear the snow and ice around there. And as always fire hydrants throughout the winter clearing that, we appreciate the folks that have been doing that throughout this winter.”
There is a map on the city’s website where you can find your drain.
If you can’t get at the storm drain or need help clearing it, call St. Cloud Public Works at 320-650-2900, or after hours call 320-251-1200.
