UPDATE: Meeker County Authorities Arrest One After Friday Night Homicide

Update, posted Monday, March 1 at 4:15 p.m.:

(KNSI) – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one person in a lethal shooting that happened Friday night along 545th Avenue.

The 23-year-old male suspect was arrested after authorities issued a search warrant in the 700 block of Main Street in Hutchinson on Sunday. He awaits formal charges in the Meeker County Jail.

Meeker County authorities say the victim has been identified as 42-year-old Devon Remmel of Grove City.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office states that Remmel’s death was a homicide. Authorities say the confrontation that led to Remmel’s death involved multiple people.

(KNSI) – The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent homicide Friday night.

Police were called to a home in Acton Township just before 10:45. When they arrived they found a man outside the house and they say he had been shot. Sheriff’s deputies started first aid immediately but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s body has been taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. His name has not yet been released.

A press release says this does not appear to be a random act, and no one is in custody. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
