(KNSI) – A 27-year-old Sauk Centre man is in jail after a child called 911 to say his father was hitting his mother.
According to the criminal complaint, police responded to the home about 9:20 Thursday night to find a woman red faced, scared, and crying. She told police her husband, Nicolas Gomez-Gomez, had gotten out of the shower and became upset because the TV was too loud. She said Gomez-Gomez got on top of her and started hitting her. She explained she was trying to block his punches which made him angrier. She explained Gomez-Gomez started to choke her so hard she was having trouble breathing and was afraid he would kill her. She told investigators it went on for several minutes until the boy was able to call 911.
The child told officers he heard his dad yelling in and then heard his mom screaming the word stop. He said he went into the bedroom where they were and saw his dad hit his mom, and it looked like he was choking her. He said he told his dad to stop, but he didn’t until he walked further into the room. He said Gomez turned him around and walked him back out of the room as his mother yelled for the child to call 911.
Gomez-Gomez allegedly admitted to a “physical altercation” between him and the woman. Investigators say he did admit to being on top of her and that his hands were on her neck.
Gomez-Gomez has been charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic assault.
His next court date is set for March 8th.
