(KNSI) – As of Wednesday, 804,716 Minnesotans have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, representing 14.5 percent of the state’s population. In Stearns County, more than 24,000 people have started the vaccine series. That’s 15.3 percent of the county’s residents.

In Friday’s COVID-19 situation update, the Minnesota Department of Health confirms 1,156 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 12 deaths, none of which occurred around St. Cloud. The five-county area does add 74 new cases: six in Benton County, four in Morrison County, 16 in Sherburne County, 16 in Stearns and 32 in Wright County.

The state processed 39,601 COVID-19 tests Thursday, and 2.9 percent of those tests came back positive.

Of the more than 800,000 COVID-19 vaccine recipients so far, just over half (50.5 percent) have now gotten the second dose required for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines’ full effectiveness.

Here’s the state of vaccination around St. Cloud:

  • Stearns: 24,293 people receiving the vaccine, or 15.3 percent of the county’s population
  • Morrison: 4,666 people, or 14.1 percent
  • Benton: 4,336 people, or 10.8 percent
  • Sherburne: 7,944 people, or 8.4 percent
  • Wright: 14,197, or 10.6 percent
