(KNSI) – Cold Spring will receive $4 million in funding from the Minnesota Public Facility Authority for water system improvements.

The PFA and the Department of Employment and Economic Development announced the loans and grants that benefit 12 water infrastructure projects around the state on Wednesday.

Cold Spring’s $4 million grant from the PFA, plus $2,293,639 from the city itself, will go toward improvements to the drinking water system that involve the water treatment plant, wells and the distribution system.

“Clean waterways and drinking water are a basic function of government, and these investments are important to protecting Minnesotans and our economy,” said PFA Chair and DEED Commissioner Steve Grove.
