(KNSI) – Two people from the St. Cloud area have died from COVID-19, according to the Minnesota Department of Health’s Thursday update. They were a Benton County resident in their 80s and a Wright County resident in their 90s.
A total of 907 new COVID-19 cases and 24 deaths were reported in Minnesota today. More than half of Thursday’s reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living.
There are 73 new cases in the five-county area: three in Benton County, five in Morrison County, 18 in Sherburne County, 21 in Stearns County and 26 in Wright County.
Test positivity remains low; out of more than 44,000 tests processed Wednesday, only 2.1 percent came back positive.
As of Tuesday, 599,218 Minnesotans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Of that number, 177,239 (or 29.6 percent) have gotten their second dose. A total of 45,423 people have started receiving their COVID-19 vaccine series in the five-county area. Stearns leads the pack with more than 21,000 vaccinated.
