St. Cloud Police Detain Man, Searching Apartment After Observing Suspicious Activity

(KNSI) – A man is in custody and authorities are searching his apartment and garage after authorities say the man made comments that could pose a risk to public safety.

The St. Cloud Police Department says that at 1:50 Wednesday afternoon, SWAT officers detained a man who was acting suspiciously. SCPD says the man was making statements that could pose a risk to his welfare and to public safety. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital after being taken into custody without incident.

A search of the man’s apartment and garage in the 3700 block of West St. Germain Street is underway with the help of the St. Cloud Fire Department and the Minneapolis Police Department Bomb Squad. SCPD says the bomb squad’s assistance is for precautionary reasons due to information learned earlier in the investigation.

A safety plan has been put into place for the apartment building’s residents and management.

SCPD says this is an isolated incident not connected to other cases or events.
