(KNSI) – Minnesota’s Seventh District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach has been chosen to serve as Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Commodity Exchanges, Energy, and Credit.
The subcommittee has jurisdiction over policies, statutes, and markets related to commodity exchanges, agricultural credit, rural development, energy, and rural broadband.
In a statement, Fischbach says, “it is an honor to be named Republican lead on a subcommittee that deals with issues so important to the constituents I represent.”
Congressman Glenn’ GT’ Thompson, Republican Leader of the House Agriculture Committee, says he’s excited to welcome Fischbach aboard and looks forward to her taking the reins. He cited her experience “fighting for Minnesota farm families will serve her well.”
The Seventh District covers western Stearns County and roughly the entire western third of the state. The district is home to 30,000 farms. Fischbach’s predecessor, Congressman Collin Peterson, was Chair of the House Agriculture Committee.
Congresswoman Fischbach also serves on the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Rules.
