Local Girl Scouts’ Cookie Season Begins Today

(KNSI) – February 1st marks the first day of local Girl Scouts’ cookie-selling season. There are many different ways to buy boxes of cookies, especially during the pandemic.

Through April 11th, Girl Scout cookies can be purchased online, and beginning on February 16th in the St. Cloud area, Grubhub will deliver cookies. Local Girl Scouts will help fulfill the Grubhub orders seven days a week from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines also says you can reach out to a local registered Girl Scout to see how she’s selling cookies this season.

Haven Fahey, a member of troop #589 who’s been in Girl Scouts for seven years, says many Girl Scouts are using social media to share information about cookie sales.

“I know that on February 1st, a lot of girls are going to put out reminders on their Snapchats and Instagrams and Facebook about, ‘Here’s my link that you can use to buy cookies,'” Fahey said.

Through cookie sales, Fahey said she’s learned about business strategy, like evaluating how successful a certain booth location will be based on the first hour of sales. While COVID changes some aspects of how cookie sales will work this year, she said she’s looking forward to earning enough money to go on a trip.

“People think it’s a tough question,” Fahey said. “But for me, it’s Lemonades, and it’s always been Lemonades.”
