Man Arrested After Leading Police on a 23 Mile Long Chase

(KNSI) – A 36-year-old Litchfield man wanted for multiple violations of a domestic abuse no-contact order is behind bars after police say he led them on a miles-long pursuit Wednesday night.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says about 6:10, a deputy saw Dustin Nelson’s pickup truck and tried to pull him over. They say Nelson refused and took off, leading police on a 23-mile long chase until they saw they lost sight of him in a wooded area off Highway 24 in Forest City Township.

For two hours, deputies tracked Nelson until he was found roughly two miles away on County Road 34 southwest of Mud Lake. The Minnesota State Patrol, Eden Valley Police Department, CEE-VI Task Force, and Litchfield Police Department all helped in the search.

Police say they found two shotguns, a handgun, and a knife in Nelson’s truck.

He was treated for frostbite before being booked into the Meeker County jail, facing several charges.
