(KNSI) – Two men from Canada are both jailed and charged after police say they discovered guns in their pickup during a traffic stop in Fergus Falls.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Dayne Sitladeen and Muzamil Addow, both 29 are charged with one count each of illegally possessing a firearm after the Minnesota State Patrol says the pair were pulled over for driving around 100 miles an hour Sunday night.
The trooper says about 10:00; they saw the speeding pickup truck with Texas license plates on Interstate 94. When they pulled the truck over, they say Addow was behind the wheel and gave them a Canadian driver’s license with a fake name, and Sitladeen handed over a fake ID from Florida.
After smelling marijuana and getting several conflicting statements from the men, the officer says he decided to search the truck and found four bags containing 67 guns and several pistol magazines.
Police discovered a provisional warrant was out for Sitladeen’s arrest. The U.S. issued it at the request of Canadian authorities. Sitladeen was allegedly wanted in Toronto for first-degree murder, fentanyl distribution, and possessing proceeds from a crime. Police say Addow had warrants out for his arrest for kidnapping and weapons offenses.
