(KNSI) – A case of mistaken identity may have been the reasoning behind a shooting over the weekend in St. Cloud.
Police say just before 12:30 Saturday afternoon, they were called to the parking lot of 9th Avenue Express for a shooting. By the time police arrived, both the victim and the suspects were gone, but a short time later, police were called to St. Cloud Hospital for a man who had arrived with a gunshot wound to his hand.
He told police he was shot while he was sitting in the front passenger seat of his car while he was parked at 9th Avenue Express. He said a man and a woman approached his car and started asking him questions before the man shot him. The woman in the car was not injured and drove the man to the hospital.
Investigators say they were able to figure out who the woman was, and with the help from the Chaska Police Department and the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, they found her at a home in Chaska. A search warrant was executed on the home and the car. The 48-year-old was arrested and taken to the Stearns County jail for charges of aiding and abetting the shooting.
Neither the man nor the gun has been found.
The victim does not know the suspects, and investigators say it may have been a case of mistaken identity. The investigation is ongoing.
