(KNSI) – Minnesota reports just under 1,000 new COVID-19 cases Monday. The state also adds four more people to its COVID-19 death count.

Out of 15,980 tests processed Sunday, 980 new positive cases of COVID-19 were found. Of that number, Benton County adds 7 cases, Morrison County 7, Sherburne County 15, Stearns County 21 and Wright County 27.

The Minnesota Department of Health reports four COVID-19 deaths, which does not include anyone from the five-county area. The ages of the deceased range between 70 and 99, and two deaths occurred in residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

The 980 new positive cases represent 6.1 percent of Sunday’s total test volume; Minnesota’s test positivity rate has been hovering just above or below the 5-percent threshold that indicates uncontrolled community spread of the virus.

Stearns County’s COVID-19 dashboard indicates that 341 people have active cases of COVID-19 in the county. Benton County’s active case count is 76.
