(KNSI) Cathedral defeated Mankato East 11-2 on Wednesday to advance to the Section A Semifinals.
In the first period, Cathedral came out strong with scoring in the first couple of minutes.
Mankato tied it up right away to make it a 1-1 game.
After that, the game started to get out of hand.
Cathedral went into the first intermission with a 4-1 lead.
In the second period, Cathedral added 5 more goals. Mankato got one back midway through, but that will be the last goal they score in the game.
Cathedral led 9-2 going into the second intermission.
The 3rd period started with running time, and the Crusaders continued to pound the puck into the net.
The final score 11-2 was in favor of Cathedral.
10 different players scored goals for Cathedral, with Jack Smith scoring 2 of them.
Cathedral Goaltender Grant Martin was selected as the All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the game with 10 saves and 2 goals allowed.
Cathedral will play Friday at 11am against the winner of Hermantown and Monticello.
