(KNSI) – A Waite Park man is accused of trying to strangle a woman with her scarf.
Police were called to a home on Thursday for a domestic assault.
Investigators say Hector Rafael Peralta Peralta and a woman were arguing about a phone when the 38-year-old covered the victim’s mouth with the scarf she was wearing.
The woman told police she struggled to breathe and could not scream.
She says she had to bite his hand to make him stop. The victim says she feared for her safety.
Peralta Peralta was charged with domestic assault by strangulation and two counts of domestic assault.
Bond was set at $40,000.
