(KNSI) – St. Cloud voters could be asked to renovate a District 742 high school.

On Wednesday’s school board agenda, the St. Cloud Area School District will decide if they want to hire an architect firm to redesign and make improvements to Apollo High School.

The specific renovation plans haven’t been determined. According to the agenda, the overall project could be around $50 million.

The District says they would take community feedback on the project from now through January.

The District would finalize plans in the Spring of 2020, and the question could be on the ballot in November of 2020.

In 2016, St. Cloud area voters approved replacing the old Tech High School but didn’t support upgrades to Apollo. At the time, the District asked for about $39 million to renovate the high school.

Some improvements cloud include flexible and multipurpose learning spaces, improved career and technical education spaces, and increased safety and security.

Apollo opened in the fall of 1970 and had additions in 1984 and 1990. Apollo has more than 1,450 students.

The school is around 331,000 square feet, which is bigger than the new Tech High School, which is around 320,000-square-feet.
