ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) Before the NHL lockout began, the story of the summer around the league was Minnesota's surprise signing of top free agents Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.
The Wild haven't made the playoffs in four years. But now that the season has been saved, they're eager to see what their new stars can do for a team that started strong in 2011-12 but stumbled to the finish. Their 166 goals were the fewest in the NHL in 10 years.
Parise and Suter say they're not here to be saviors. Parise will join Mikko Koivu and Dany Heatley on the first line. Suter will anchor an unproven group of defensemen.
The Wild open the season on Saturday night at home against Colorado.
